Before Your Wax Appointment
Prepare your skin for the best possible waxing experience with these essential pre-care tips.
First time? Waxing stings! It is a quick surge of pain that does not last long. The results are totally worth it though. Your skin will be baby soft and beautiful for about a month after the appointment.
Good news: the pain lessens as you get waxed regularly. The hair follicles do not grow back as fast or as thick.
Some tips BEFORE your appointment:
- Try to show up about 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. There is free wifi in the studio and comfortable chairs if you have to wait.
- Make sure the area to be waxed is nice and clean.
- Hair should be at least 1/8″ – 1/4″ long to be removed. That’s 2-3 weeks of growth. This makes for a clean, quick wax experience.
- Do not exfoliate the day before or day of your appointment.
- For women, try not to schedule your appointment to coincide with your menstrual cycle. You are more sensitive during that time.
- Take an advil (or other anti-inflammatory) and/or try a numbing cream like Cortisone cream.
- Avoid caffeine a couple hours before your appointment. It increases sensitivity.
After Your Wax Appointment
Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY! Waxing is a clean, quick way to remove unwanted hair. You will never get the same results from shaving and you will love how your body looks after just one wax.

Some tips AFTER your appointment:
- Avoid hot tubs and swimming pools for at least 24 hours. If you are lucky enough to have a salt water pool or hot tub it’s ok to partake.
- If your skin is sensitive, many find that an ice pack a couple times a day for a couple minutes on the tender spot works wonders.
- Do not exfoliate for 24 hours after your appointment. It is important to exfoliate about two days after your appointment to minimize the chance of ingrown hairs.
- Your skin will sunburn more easily after treatment. Do your best to avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 24 hours after your appointment.
